Last January 18, we watched a stage play named: "Batang Rizal". The stage play is all about the national hero of the Philippines, Dr. Jose Protacio Rizal. It will be shown on PETA Theater on Antipolo. Everyone student is required to watch the show. We are all excited to watch it.
Before we go, we had much time to prepare. We ate our lunch and prepare all things we need. At exactly 1:00 PM, we are ready to go! On the way to PETA Theater, we saw a collision of two tricycles. We saw a blood stains! So our presumption is that one of them has either died or had a bad condition in the hospital. While we are on the way, I prayed in my mind and hope nothing bad would happen. We arrived at the theater safely! We waited and fall in a great big line! We waited for at least one hour. At last! After a long walk, we have taken our seat on the theater. We wait for almost 30 minutes and the show started.
A boy and a girl was giving introductory message and remind the theater watchers the proper etiquette inside the theater. The first scene is: the school bell rings and the students form their line. The singing of the national anthem started. After it, a school principal entered the stage and scolded a boy named Pepito because he sleeping under the tree. A mayor named Raffku entered the scene. He donates a statue of Dr. Jose Rizal. This statue is made of finest materials so it is so expensive. But Pepito suddenly broke it! He was so afraid that time. So he pretend to be the statue and covered himself with a white cloth so that the mayor and the principal would not see him. But unfortunately, the principal saw Pepito. The principal got really angry and condemned Pepito that if he don't fix the statue, he will be expelled. The school bully heard this and they tease the poor Pepito. Pepito go to the school library and reviewed because there will be a long test about Dr. Jose Rizal. A magical thing happened and he was now on the time of Rizal. He saw a younger version of Dr. Jose Rizal. They made friends. They play and tell stories together. They traveled through time and Pepito discovered everything about Rizal. They discovered that Rizal is also an ordinary kid. Rizal also experienced to be bullied and teased. Pepito ask Rizal if he can fix the statue. Rizal agreed and they went to Pepito's time. Pepito introduced Rizal to his friends. At first they don't believe at him. They teased, bullied and blackmail Pepito and Rizal. Pepito repeated his favor to Rizal many times. After a long long time, Rizal got annoyed. Rizal told Pepito: "Why are you giving importance to a statue. Is it the statue that gives a hero fame??" These remarkable words were printed to my mind. Is it really the statue who gives fame to a hero? Is it the statue who brings the life of someone? Is it the statue who is important? Why are we giving so much importance to a well carved stone? So many questions entered my mind. The school bully still bullied Pepito. The mayor Raffku heard the news and said that if the statue wouldn't be fixed before the school: "Buwan ng Wika", the school will be closed. All the students were now in trouble. Pepito's friends including the school bully formed a team that would help rebuild the statue. They give Rizal an apology. They formed a plan.
The "Buwan ng Wika" celebration had arrived! Mayor Raffku will now unveil the statue. But he was so surprised to see that it was just the students who were in there. Mayor Rafku got angry. But Rizal came holding a carved stack books and on top of it was perfectly carved head of Dr. Jose Rizal. The mayor was so surprised to see the stone carve! He promised not to close the school, instead, he will donate more books and rooms. The last scene is one of the most memorable scenes of all. Rizal decided go back to his time. The students planned something. They planned to surprise Rizal. They collected PVC pipes and they attached it together. This looks like a statue of a man running. While they are fixing it, they sing a memorable song. Rizal was so surprised and shocked. Rizal go back to his time and face his real life.
After watching the play, I was so overwhelmed. I can't express my feelings. Right then, I keep in my mind that whenever I saw a statue of a hero, I will not praise his appearance. Instead, I will remember and praise his good works. Some of my classmates where crying and some are not. But I see to their eyes that they are carried away by that stage play. Batang Rizal can be concluded as a masterpiece! I hope someday, I could watch that play again.
